Eco-Friendly Beauty Solutions

Like makeup and passionate about the environment? Check out these eco-friendly beauty solutions, sure to keep you — and the planet! — looking good:
Use Organic Makeup
Numerous companies manufacture products made from plant oils, minerals, and various extracts. These products are not only environmentally-friendly, they're also healthier for your skin. You'll be helping your skin and planet at the same time.
Go Cruelty Free
Cosmetics companies will often test their products on animals. Alternative testing methods are available, however. Look for a Leaping Bunny Logo on the packaging, and you'll know it's cruelty free.
Recycle
Take part in a makeup recycling program. More and more stores and recycling centers are accepting makeup containers for recycling. Also, stores like MAC and Origins have programs to turn in containers, some of which can get you more makeup!
Conserve Water
Invest in a low-flow shower head and limit your shower time. You'll be saving lots of water! Turning off the water for activities like shaving and brushing teeth can also go a long way in helping the environment.
Avoid Disposables
Not only does a reusable razor help reduce landfill waste, it will be cheaper for you in the long run. Also, you'll be doing a lot of good by cutting out disposable sponges and Q-tips when applying makeup. Use brushes or your fingers whenever possible.

At Edge Restaurant, you’ll enjoy dining at the cusp of culinary extraordinaire. Service is supportive but not intrusive, you can relax, be casual, and set your own pace for a special evening. As delicious as they are lovely visually, the dishes reflect a chef who takes pride in his work and a kitchen that takes your gastronomic pleasure seriously. Seared tuna or tuna tartare, duck confit spring rolls, foie gras and oysters are just a few examples. Entrees include Hawaiian butterfish, rack of lamb, slow-roasted pulled pork sandwich, duck and filet mignon.
Don’t doubt reviews urging you to save space for dessert. Valrhona chocolate cake, oatmeal panna cotta, toasted coconut molasses tiramisu, salted caramel chocolate tart, and house made sorbets and ice creams merely sample the list. Consider Edge for happy hours Monday through Friday, or girls' night out on Wednesdays.

Wert’s Cafe: The Burger Boss
February 14, 2012 by admin
The Lehigh Valley area has no shortage of burger places; classic American favorites are very well-represented by local restaurateurs. So to win awards for the best burgers in town—not once but over and over again—means that you have to be doing something right. Allentown’s Wert’s Café has over forty years of burger mastery under its belt, knocking out moist, perfectly-seared patties topped with a variety of fresh ingredients to a huge crowd of appreciative locals. No matter what you order, be sure to get onion strings on the side, as this local specialty—basically deconstructed onion rings sliced thinly and flash-fried—are insanely addictive. If you’re not in the mood for a burger, the other sandwiches on the menu are equally high-quality, especially the turkey club. You can tell that Wert’s really cares about their clientele, and it’s nice to see a neighborhood classic that doesn’t just coast on their reputation.

Apple Blossom Village: Fun For Kids of All Ages
February 7, 2012 by admin
There aren't many local places for real, wholesome family fun, but luckily Apple Blossom Village, an old-school entertainment destination for kids of all ages, is not too far away. This “family fun farm” was opened in 1998 by the Correll family to provide a safe play space with a variety of exciting activities in pleasant Mt. Bethel, and for the last thirteen years it has been going strong. This isn’t a big-budget facility, but everything here is kept in good condition and packs a ton of fun. The indoor play area is designed for kids age 2 and up, boasting a giant climbing structure, inflatable slides, a ball pit, and much more. For older kids, a paintball arena lets them work out some aggression in a safe manner. A video arcade, mini golf, and more just round out the experience.
